The Luxonis OAK Thermal is an advanced thermal camera characterized by a variety of impressive features:

Thermal Perception:

Thermal cameras detect infrared radiation, which is emitted by all objects based on their temperature. The Luxonis OAK Thermal uses a special IR-capable lens to focus the infrared light emitted by all objects/scenes in the field of view. This is then scanned by an array of infrared detector elements ("pixels") in the camera.

Power Consumption:

Most of the power is consumed by the RVC2, so the power consumption mostly depends on the workload of the chip:

Base consumption + PoE circuit + camera streaming: 3W - 3.5W
Thermal sensor: ≤1W
AI subsystem consumption: ≤1W
Stereo depth pipeline subsystem: ≤0.5W
Video encoder subsystem: ≤0.5W

Total power consumption can be ≤ ~6.5W when all functions are used simultaneously with 100% utilization. To reduce power consumption, the frame rate of the entire pipeline can be reduced - this way, the subsystems are not fully utilized and consume less power.
