The ROBOTIS OP3 is a very popular development platform for a wide spreaded field of applications. The ROS Support (Robot Operating System) enables extensive research in Machine Learning, AI, SLAM, Navigation, etc.

The OP3 has a wide spectrum of Nodes attached wich greatly increase the productivity and reduce the training period. Every component can software-sided be individually modified and used due to the extensive documentation of every component. The pre-existing "Robotprofiles" (XML Files) enable an quick and easy visualization in different simulations programs such as RVIZ or Gazebo.
While selecting the hardware the focus was layed on maximum reliability and user-friendliness wich means, that only parts of well-known producers where integrated. The mechanic aswell as the controlling components come from ROBOTIS, the camera and the development board is an Intel NUC with i3 processor, 8GB Ram with an SSD. The 20 degrees of freedom are provided by DYNAMIXEL XM430-W350-R servo motors and are markable for their high torque despite the high control speed. The servo controllerboard is an OpenCR with Cortex M7 CPU, magnetic field sensor, acceleration sensor and gyroscope.
