The Dynamixel Servo Controllerboard (DSC) was developed to control easily Dynamixel Servomotors (AX,MX,RX,X Series). The DSC is full Arduino IDE compatible so you can use it as normal Arduino development board or you can plug it on your Raspberry Pi and use it with your own environment or with ROS (Robot Operating System). The integrated Step Down module provides power for the RPi and uC so you need only one power Supply. We prefer a 3S Lipo accu. Moreover several ports and interfaces are integrated on the board so you can easily add up to 6 PWM Servos and some analog or digital sensors with the I2C interfaces and ADC Ports.


The Dynamixel Servo Controllerboard is full Arduino IDE compatible so you have two possibilities to upload your code: The first one, which we prefer, is to use a USBASP Programmer, the second one is a FTDI Converter.

With our DSC you can control and monitor your connected Dynamixel Servomotors with only a few Codelines. We have add a example of controlling a motor and reading his temperature, voltage and absolute position following.

We are still developing a firmware to use the DSC under ROS. We are very confident to publish it in the near future.


When we've started developing the Dynamixel Servo Controllerboard our highest priority was, to develop a high reliable and easy to use solution. So we've used only components from great known manufacturer like Molex, Phoenix Contact and Panasonic.
To communicate with the RPi and the Servomotors we've used a Atmel Atmega644P uC which has two UART interfaces. The first one is used to communicate with the RPi and the second one for the motors.

If you would like to use a Development Board or Computer which does not have a UART interface you can add a FTDI Converter at the given pin-header to be able to control the DSC using USB.

In case of using DYNAMIXEL Servomotors with a RS485 Interface, you can use our USB2RS Driver.
