The LoCoBot series of the US manufacturer TrossenRobotics/Interbotix is the further development of the very popular Interbotix Turtlebot 2i, which depending on the version could already be equipped with an MK3 robot arm (manipulator). The LoCoBot series follows a quite similar concept of a modular research platform (R&D platform), which can be configured/ordered depending on the application. Each robot comes standard with an Intel NUC with an i3, 8GB RAM and 240GB SSD. In addition, each robot has an Intel RealSense D435 with DYNAMIXEL Pan & Tilt Head and optional RPLiDAR A2M8 LiDAR.
The TrossenRobotics Interbotix LoCoBot can be ordered with different manipulators based on the DYNAMIXEL X-Series (XL430 or XM430) actuators:
- LoCoBot Base (ohne Manipulator)
- LoCoBot PX100 (4DOF / 50g Payload / XL430)
- LoCoBot WX200 (5DOF / 200g Payload)
- LoCoBot WX250 (6DOF / 250g Payload)
- LoCoBot PyRobot (5DOF / 200g Payload)
The Interbotix LoCoBot can also be equipped with 2D & 3D LiDAR in addition to various manipulators. The RPLiDAR is perfectly suited for teaching Obstacle Avoidance & 2D Mapping. The Ouster 3D-LiDAR, on the other hand, is predestined for 3D mapping applications or for generating high-resolution point clouds.
The LoCoBot series is based on ROS with already implemented ROS Navigation, Mapping & Mobile Manipulation stack, so that own applications can be implemented with few lines of code.
