The Shadow Dexterous Hand is the only robotic hand on the market with 24 degrees of movement and 20 degrees of freedom (DOF) for more flexibility in grasping and manipulating different objects. Each finger can move independently, resulting in unparalleled dexterity. The 129 sensors in total increase accuracy and enable a high level of precision. The Hand has long been a popular research tool for universities and businesses, has recently been used in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning (winning the AIconics Award for Best Innovation in AI Hardware 2019), and is a key component of this teleoperation solution designed to replace human operators in dangerous situations - such as nuclear power plant decommissioning and bomb disposal.
