Description

The Luxonis OAK-D Pro PoE is the ultimate camera for robotic vision, perceiving the world like a human by combining an active stereo depth camera and a high-resolution color camera with on-device neural network inference and computer vision capabilities. It also features night vision to perceive environments with low to no light. The OAK-D Pro PoE uses PoE (Power over Ethernet) for both power and GigE connectivity.

The Pro version is recommended for applications requiring high-quality and reliable stereo depth perception in any kind of environment, including low-light and texture-less scenes where traditional passive stereo approaches struggle.

Key Features

PoE Connectivity: The camera can communicate with other computers via network infrastructure (TCP, UDP, HTTP, MQTT, etc.). As our PoE models feature integrated flash memory, you can also run your programs in standalone mode. The OAK PoE cameras are housed in a rugged, IP-rated enclosure, which is required for industrial and outdoor use.

 

The manufacturer aims to create a versatile platform with an ultra-small form factor, allowing anyone to execute a basic script in under 30 seconds. The development platforms are available in various configurations, such as with Wi-Fi or a Raspberry Pi Compute Module. If initial tests are promising, Luxonis also offers bare PCBs, which can be integrated as OEM components into third-party products.

What is DepthAI?

Each Luxonis development board features the so-called DepthAI firmware, which inherently provides the following functionalities:

  • Neural Inference (e.g., object detection, image classification, etc., including two-stage)
  • Stereo Depth (including median filtering)
  • 3D Object Localization (complementing 2D object detectors with 3D position in meters)
  • Object Tracking (also in 3D space)
  • H.264 and H.265 encoding (HEVC, 1080p & 4K video)
  • JPEG Encoding
  • MJPEG Encoding
  • Warp/Unwarp
