Description

The UP Board 7000 with 8 GB is a compact single-board computer on an x86 basis. With an Intel N-series processor from the Alder Lake-N architecture and 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory, it brings desktop compatibility to a format otherwise reserved for ARM boards – on a board measuring 85.6 × 56.5 mm in the Raspberry Pi form factor.

This is precisely where the benefit for mobile robotics lies: x86 instead of ARM. Perception pipelines, SLAM methods, AI inference and custom control algorithms run without cross-compiling and without porting effort, because industrial tools and frameworks are supported natively. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles hardware-accelerated video decoding and computer vision workloads.

The connectivity is extensive for a board of this size: two Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A, USB 2.0, HDMI 1.4b, and M.2 slots for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and storage. The 40-pin GPIO header with UART, I2C and SPI lets you connect sensors and actuators directly.

On the software side, Ubuntu, Windows 10/11 and Yocto Linux are supported, as are ROS 1 and ROS 2 in full. Power is supplied at 12 V DC – matching the on-board supply of the Leo Rover, into which the board can be integrated as the compute core.
