Electromagnetic brake MAB SLIM

Electromagnetic Brake MAB SLIM

  • MAB SLIM is an ultra-thin brake series
  • Power Supply: 24-48 VDC
  • Holding Torque: 0.06-38 (Nm)

Description

The MAB SLIM v2.0 is a series of ultra-thin electromagnetic brakes developed specifically for mobile robotics applications. The brakes work on the power-off principle (spring force): they hold when de-energized and thus provide high holding torque at low power consumption – ideal as a safety/holding brake that secures the position even in the event of a power failure.

When current flows through the coil, the magnetic field generates a force that pulls the armature against the spring force and releases the brake (free movement). When de-energized, the springs press the armature and generate the friction force that closes the brake. The modular series covers a wide holding-torque range from 0.06 to 38 Nm and operates on 24–60 VDC.

The SLIM series is compatible with the MAB MD Series motor controllers and must be operated with an overexcitation controller, which is included in the set. On request, an actuator with a built-in electromagnetic brake is also available.
