MAB Robotics MD20 v1.0 CANopen motor controller

MAB Robotics MD20 v1.0 CANopen motor controller

  • Compact BLDC motor controller (Ø 35 mm, 6 g) for mobile robotics
  • Up to 48 VDC, 20 A peak; CANopen (FDCAN up to 8 Mbps), daisy-chaining
  • Many control modes; aux for MAB encoders & MAB SLIM brake control

Description

The MD20 v1.0 CANopen is a highly integrated, compact brushless motor controller (BLDC) from MAB Robotics, tailored specifically to the needs of mobile robotics while also meeting industrial requirements. It offers high performance, energy efficiency and reliability – ideal both for research and development prototypes and for series production.

The particularly small MD20 is excellently suited to small, precise gimbal motors and offers numerous control modes: position PID, velocity PID, impedance, raw torque, profile position and profile velocity. Via simple daisy-chaining, multiple controllers can be seamlessly connected in a single control network.

This version features a CANopen communication interface and can thus be easily integrated into a higher-level industrial controller (e.g. PLC). During the prototyping phase, the MD20 works seamlessly with the CANdle device; in production it serves as a robust standalone solution. Via the aux connector, external MAB on-axis/off-axis encoders as well as automatic brake control for MAB SLIM electromagnetic brakes can be used.
