Description

Capacitive Touch Sensor 1129_1B

The 1129_1B model is almost identical to the 1129_1 model, but it offers the additional option to choose the length of the Phidget cable as needed.

The 1129 is a capacitive touch sensor that can detect touches through materials such as plastic, glass, or paper. A recommended material thickness is up to 1/2 inch (about 1.27 cm).

The sensor can also be used as a proximity sensor, detecting objects up to 1.27 cm away in all directions without direct contact. This makes it versatile for applications where direct contact should be avoided.

On the underside of the touch sensor, there is a small exposed metal pad. To increase the size and dimensions of the touchable area, a solder connection can be made to this pad, for example by attaching the sensor to a larger metal object or a wire.

Features of the 1129

  • Detects human touch through materials up to 1/2 inch thick.
  • Automatic recalibration to prevent the sensor from being blocked by dirt or debris.
  • Connection options: Connects to a Phidgets VINT port or voltage input.
  • Recalibration time: The 1129_1B has a sensor chip that recalibrates after 45 seconds of contact (as opposed to 60 seconds for the 1129_0).
