Description
The IR-UART01 is a UART to half-duplex TTL/RS485 converter that enables the control of mightyZAP actuators via half-duplex TTL or RS-485 communication using UART signals in embedded system environments. The board is compatible with common development platforms such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Latte Panda, and other UART-capable microcontrollers.
The 3.3 V logic voltage for communication as well as the supply voltage for the actuator must be provided separately via the power connector – according to the input voltage of the used mightyZAP linear servo (7.4 V, 12 V or 24 V). By transmitting command packets according to the actuator user manual, various parameter settings and operational tests can be performed. For RS485 communication over long distances or in electrically noisy environments, an optional termination resistor (120 Ω) can be soldered at position R5.
Note: TX of the host board must be connected to TX of the IR-UART01 (RX accordingly). Ensure correct polarity of the power supply – reverse polarity may damage the board. When daisy-chaining multiple actuators, the total current must not exceed 3 A.
