Description

The LightWare ACC_DroneCAN Adapter provides instant, reliable connectivity between LightWare LiDAR sensors and a DroneCAN-enabled flight controller. DroneCAN is the primary CAN protocol used by the ArduPilot and PX4 projects for communication with CAN peripherals.

The adapter is fully compliant with the standard DroneCAN message set for device configuration, management and LiDAR range output, ensuring out-of-the-box interoperability between a LightWare sensor and the controller. This significantly reduces time-to-first-result and minimises errors at the physical and command interfaces.

The board comes pre-populated with the connectors suitable for all LightWare sensors. Multiple adapters can be daisy-chained via the two CAN connectors to operate several sensors – with each adapter supporting exactly one LightWare sensor. Pass-through firmware updates allow both the adapter and the connected sensor to be updated – either via a direct serial connection or via DroneCAN itself.

Weighing in at just 3.14 g and consuming only 0.075 W, the adapter follows LightWare's design principles of an ultra-compact form factor, very low weight and lowest power consumption.
