Description of an Actuator with High Torque Density

The actuator in this example configuration combines various state-of-the-art components to ensure optimal performance and versatility. The configuration includes a brushless motor, a harmonic reducer, an MD80 controller, and an absolute output encoder. All parameters can be adjusted as needed, and the price significantly decreases with higher quantities.

  • Voltage: The actuator is designed to operate in the range of 12 to 48 VDC, allowing flexible integration into various applications.
  • Weight and Size: With a weight of 0.54 kg and a compact size of fi73x62mm, the actuator is lightweight and space-saving.

Optionally, an integrated RLS 17-20-bit absolute encoder can be implemented on the output shaft.
  • Software Support: The actuator is supported by ROS/ROS2 drivers and C++/Python libraries, enabling seamless integration into robotic applications.
  • Robustness: The actuator's housing is dust and waterproof according to IP67 standards, ensuring reliable performance in different environments.
  • Temperature Sensor and Electrical Connection: An integrated temperature sensor allows monitoring of the operating temperature, and the chaining of electrical connections facilitates the installation and maintenance of the actuator.
