The ArduCAM team has released a series of camera modules for the Raspberry Pi, including 5MP and 8MP modules. They are fully compatible with the official version and are divided into Standard Version, Optimised Optical Performance Version, Miniature Spy Camera Version, NoIR Version, Motorised IR Cut Version and Programmable Motorised Focus Camera Version. These camera modules support all Raspberry Pi models and require a 15-to-22 pin cable or adapter to work with the Pi Zero.
This ArduCam monochrome (B&W) global shutter OV9281 is mainly designed for Raspberry Pi boards and can be connected to the CSI-2 camera interface of the RPi without any additional hardware. The resolution of this module is 1280 x 800 pixels. The module is also supported by the latest software update. For Rev.A view the Arducam drivers and for Rev.B view the Raspberry Pi drivers.
Due to the 3.0 USB port, a fast development and evaluation board for sensors like OV9281 is possible. The monochrome global shutter camera module has an M12 mount lens and is connected via the CSI interface of the Raspberry Pi. It also supports Raspberry Pi 4, Pi3/3B+/3A+, CM3/3+, Pi Zero and more. The ArduCam with OV9281 (rev.B) is compatible with the official V4L2 camera driver.
The application areas of this module are wide, thanks to the excellent low-light sensitivity of the sensor. From face detection to head and eye tracking, as well as depth and motion detection. Add to that categories such as security, high dynamic range imaging, unattended surveillance, stereo vision, machine vision and automation.
