Franka Emergency Stop Device X3 – emergency stop button for the Franka Research 3

The Emergency Stop Device X3 is the original emergency stop button from Franka Robotics for the Franka Research 3 (FR3). It connects directly to the X3 safety input in the base of the robot arm and stops the robot safely in an emergency.

When pressed, the button triggers a Category 1 stop: the arm is braked in a controlled manner and then de-energised. Optionally, the power supply to the end effector can be cut as well – configurable in the Watchman safety configuration.

The device is suitable as a replacement or as an additional emergency stop button, for example for a second workstation or another FR3 in the lab.

Notes

• The emergency stop button must be mounted so that it is always easy to reach in an emergency while being protected against accidental actuation.
• If the configurable safety inputs X3.2 and X3.3 are used with a custom connector, the standard emergency stop can no longer be plugged in. The emergency stop function must then be integrated into the custom connector on channel X3.1.
• Installation may only be carried out by qualified personnel.
