The Ouster REV8 OS family is a generation of digital lidar sensors featuring – according to the manufacturer – the world's first native color capture (color and 3D data are fused directly in the silicon hardware). All variants share the same platform and differ primarily in field of view, range and resolution. The four REV8 versions compared:

The Ouster OSDome is a hemispherical lidar sensor of the REV8 generation with a 180° field of view under a dome-shaped protective cover. Its upward/all-around capture makes it ideal for ceiling or overhead mounting, and therefore for security, smart infrastructure and the environmental awareness of autonomous systems.

Like the entire REV8 family, the OSDome offers – according to the manufacturer – native color capture (color and 3D data fused directly in the silicon hardware), an embedded IMU and near-IR ambient data. With up to 10,485,760 points per second, a horizontal angular resolution of 0.09° and selectable 32, 64 or 128 channels, it delivers gap-free point clouds in the short range.

The sensor is engineered for functional safety (ASIL-B, SIL-2, PLd) and is cybersecure to ISO 21434. The IP68/IP69K protection rating makes it suitable for demanding indoor and outdoor use.
