3D-Kamera Upgrade Kit

Description

Our Turtlebot3 Compatible Upgrade Kit includes all hardware components and software packages necessary to equip the Turtlebot3 Burger or Waffle Pi with a 3D camera. This upgrade allows you to use 3D-SLAM algorithms such as ORB2-SLAM.

Instructions on how to add a 3D camera to the Turtlebot3 can be found at the following link: https://www.mybotshop.de/Turtlebot3-3D-SLAM

3D-Camera

We chose the Orbbec3D Stereo S camera because it could be operated at up to 20FPS, provides a maximum image size of 1920 x 1080 pixels and delivers very good results despite oblique incident light. Therefore this camera is very suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. The only thing to be considered is that the camera has to be protected separately against moisture & splash water.

Our integration solution is not only compatible with the Orbbec Stereo S, but with the entire Orbbec Astra series. Depending on the application, the upgrade can also be delivered with an Astra Pro or Embedded S.

3D-SLAM

One of the biggest advantages of this upgrade is the possibility to explore and use 3D SLAM algorithms. Because of this, we have published an example of how to use the ORB2-SLAM algorithm in addition to a guide to integrating the 3D camera.
